We do not know what life will bring to us. We are always in a hurry. Time passes by so quickly. It will never come back or stop. What is done cannot be undone. But you can change yourself. You may become a better version of yourself. You may say sorry to those whom you offended. You may go to church and make your confession. All these things you may do while you are alive, while your relatives and beloved ones are alive.
I thank God for giving me life, for all the joy and difficulties I had. The disease made me think over my life and try to correct mistakes. The doctors diagnosed primary biliary cirrhosis. There are no approved methods of treatment and medicines for this disease. The doctors in Mogilev (S.I. Krylova, L.A. Listratenko, V.F. Medvednik, N.A. Bakhta, A.G. Pranovich and L.Y Vorobieva) did their best to sustain my life and maintain my health. However, life slipped away from my body. I stayed at the 9th clinical hospital for several times. In 2008, the specialists of the 9th hospital started to perform liver transplantation. I got a chance and hope. In autumn 2008 I was placed on the waiting list.
On October 22, 2009, I underwent the surgery for liver transplantation. When I woke up after anesthesia, I felt ease and happiness. I understood I was alive and I had future. Of course, my relatives, friends and colleagues were also happy. They supported me in my struggle with the disease and shared the victory with me. I believe God and people helped me survive.
I would like to thank form the deep of my heart the doctors O.O. Rummo, E.L. Avdey, A.E. Shcherba, A.M. Fedoruk and E.V. Gordey, as well as the team of the surgeons, anesthesiologists and intensivists, nurses and paramedics of the Department of Portal Hypertension of the 9th City Clinical Hospital.
I would also like to thank the government and the president of the republic for financing such expensive surgeries. For me, it proves that we live in a good country, that we have excellent and experienced doctors.
