Room of the city register of donors of hematopoietic stem cells

The room was established in May 2009.

The core activity is to create and maintain the City register of donors of bone marrow and stem cells. It enables to use transplantation of hematopoietic cells donated by unrelated donors (citizens of the Republic of Belarus) in a combined therapy of patients. Hematopoietic cell transplantation is free of charge for the citizens of Belarus, and is paid for foreign citizens.

The key objectives of the staff:

• to maintain the City register of donors of bone marrow and stem cells;
• to match donors for hematopoietic cell transplantation;
• to arrange screening of donors of hematopoietic cells;
• to consult potential donors on the issues relating to donation.

As of January 1, 2013, 5100 persons were included in the register. For the first time, Belarusian donors of hematopoietic cells for two patients were founded in the register.
