Indications for hematopoietic cell transplantation:

  • acute myeloblastic leukemia;
  • acute lymphoblastic leukemia;
  • chronic myeloid leukemia;
  • aplastic anemia;
  • multiple myeloma;
  • chronic lymphocytic leukemia;
  • myelodysplastic syndrome;
  • primary myelofibrosis;
  • Hodgkin's lymphoma;
  • malignant lymphoma;
  • breast cancer;
  • multiple sclerosis;
  • other hematopoietic malignancies or autoimmune diseases.

Bone marrow transplantation is used to treat various hematopoietic malignancies, including breast cancer, acute leukemia, Hodgkin’s lymphoma and some genetic disorders. The hematopoietic stem cells of a healthy donor are used for transplantation. Hematopoietic stem cells are contained in bone marrow. Pelvic bones, spine and breast bone contain the largest quantity of bone marrow.

Stem cells are the precursors to all blood cells in the human body and the cells of the immune system. Being transplanted, hematopoietic cells may completely restore a recipient’s haematopoiesis and immunity.
