Department of Nephrology and Hemodialysis

The Department of Nephrology and Hemodialysis is the division of the Republican Center of Nephrology and Renal Replacement Therapy.

Structure:

Core Activities:

• Conventional nephrology: treatment of glomerulonephritis, tubulo-interstitial nephritis, pyelonephritis and polycystic kidney disease; correction of renovascular hypertension; treatment of renal diseases caused by diabetes mellitus and other systemic diseases.

We use laboratory tests, isotope techniques, X-ray, ultrasound examinations, computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging, angiography, renal biopsy with immunohistochemistry of biopsy samples, to detect renal diseases.

• Hemodialysis:

We treat chronic kidney failure with the help of hemodialysis and hemofiltration.

We have advanced equipment for dialysis, including 5 Fresenius 5008 dialysis machines. We use the latest high-flux membranes to purify blood.

• Peritoneal Dialysis:

We offer both a manual and automated peritoneal dialysis. We accept the patients for ambulatory peritoneal dialysis in accordance with the indications.

• Nephrology and Transplantation:

The specialists of our department collaborate with the specialists of the department of transplantation. We examine the patients and add them to the kidney transplant waiting list, if necessary. We also correct the complications of the chronic kidney disease, if they are the contraindications for a surgery. We detect and treat rejections, toxicity of immunosuppressants, viral and bacterial infections, which may occur after transplantation.

• Surgery:

1. formation and reconstruction of arteriovenous fistulas, implantation of the prosthesis for vascular access;
2. insertion of Tenckhoff peritoneal dialysis catheters;
3. renal biopsy;
4. catheterization of the central veins under the guidance of ultrasound, insertion of permanent (cuffed) hemodialysis catheters.

• Other Methods:

High-volume gravitation plasmapheresis;

Immunoadsorption (Adasorba (Fresenius)) is used to prepare a patient for kidney cross-transplantation, to treat the renal diseases caused by systemic diseases.
